Two people familiar with the situation have confirmed that Anthropic, an artificial intelligence start up in San Francisco, is on the verge of raising $300 million. This is the latest sign of the feverish enthusiasm for a new A.I. start-ups.
One person said that the deal may value Anthropic around $5 billion. However, the terms are still being worked out, and the valuation might change. According to PitchBook which tracks data on private investments, the start-up was valued at $4 billion when it raised $704 millions in 2007.
