Rivian Automotive has redesigned its all-electric R1 pickup and SUV models to enhance range, performance, and computing power. The changes in the second-generation models include a significant overhaul of hardware components and improvements to the batteries and electrical architectures. The vehicles now boast a computing system that delivers 10 times more performance than the previous version, thanks to dual Nvidia DRIVE Orin processors. The updated models aim to boost sales before the introduction of the less-expensive “R2” models in 2026. Rivian’s stock has declined by approximately 50% this year as the company reports significant losses and high cash burn.
