Owners of nearly 84,000 older Nissan vehicles in the United States have been advised to stop driving them due to a safety hazard, according to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This comes after Nissan issued a warning for certain vehicles, the 2002-2006 model year Nissan Sentra, 2002-2004 Nissan Pathfinder, and 2002-2003 Infiniti QX4, that were recalled but not fixed. The NHTSA emphasized the importance of getting the defective air bags replaced and mentioned that Nissan dealers are providing assistance with towing, mobile repair, and loaner vehicles. The recall follows a series of reported deaths and injuries caused by Takata air bags worldwide.
