Walmart shoppers may be entitled to up to $500 as part of a class-action lawsuit settlement by the retailer regarding allegations of overcharging customers for certain products. The lawsuit, initially filed in late 2022 and amended in 2023, claimed that Walmart falsely inflated the prices of sold-by-weight products, including those with the retailer’s discounts. It also alleged that Walmart mislabeled the weight of bagged produce. Walmart reached a settlement to pay $45 million to customers while denying any wrongdoing. Eligible customers who purchased weighted goods and/or bagged citrus between Oct 19, 2018, and Jan 19, 2024, could receive cash payments based on their purchases. The deadline to file a claim is June 5, 2024.
