On the second Monday of October, the United States commemorates Indigenous Peoples' Day, a holiday recognizing the contributions and legacy of indigenous communities who inhabited America prior to European colonization. This day coincides with Columbus Day in some regions, allowing reflectiveness on diverse historical narratives.

Several states officially recognize it, while over 100 cities have replaced Columbus Day entirely with Indigenous Peoples' Day. Observances vary; some students and office workers receive the day off, whereas others operate as usual. Key service updates include:

**Banks**: Major institutions like Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and Citibank remain closed. However, Chase Bank and TD Bank continue to serve customers. Online banking services remain available.

**Mail**: The U.S. Postal Service halts operations, but UPS and FedEx mostly run as usual, though with some modifications.

**Retail**: Most large retailers, such as Target and Walmart, remain open, but local businesses might have varied hours.

**Government institutions**: All government buildings, including DMVs, libraries, and courts, are closed for the day.
