The authorities initially thought the fire was caused by a defective EV battery. The footage captured by Sentry Mode proved that it was not.
As of this writing, Tesla EV fire incidents are heavily criticized. However, there is no proof that electric vehicles are more likely to be involved in fire accidents than gasoline-powered cars.
The Spokane Police Department initially concluded that it was the Model S batteries which caused the fire. Sentry Mode proved that they were incorrect.

On March 4, 2019, a Tesla car was delivered to a Los Angeles service center, after the company announced it would close its showrooms in favor of selling cars online. Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, said that the company plans to reveal a new electric crossover vehicle on March 14. It is slightly larger and more expensive than their most affordable model.

The police claimed that EVs are prone to catching fire. Harriston, however, disagreed. He was able, fortunately, to recover the video taken by his EV Sentry Mode prior to it catching fire.

The criminal then set fire to the Tesla Model S.
"I cannot imagine myself burning anything down for any political or other reasons. I don't understand. "I don't understand it," said the owner of an EV.
Harriston used the video to convince SPD of the arson nature of the fire.

The importance of the Sentry mode
According to numerous reports, El Musk is the reason that Tesla EVs have been targeted by road rage.
It is not clear if Harriston’s Model S was destroyed for this reason. Spokane Police Department continues to investigate the incident as of this writing.
Why it's important to activate the
Sentry Mode
You can do this by following the steps below.
When your vehicle is in Park, you can enable Dashcam via Controls > Security > Dashcam.
Touch Controls > Safety -> Sentry Mode and select On. When enabled, the Sentry Mode icon on the Controls tab will turn red.
