This Wedding Season, Diamonds Face a Challenge

Man-made stones are cheaper and more appealing to shoppers who see them as a socially conscious purchase.

What is that diamond ring you're showing your newly-engaged friend? It might not be a diamond.

According to a survey conducted online by The Knot, a wedding planning website in the United States of America of more than 12,000 couples, nearly a third (33%) of engagement rings purchased with center stones last year were made in a laboratory. This is double what was expected in 2020.
